well. I started the truck and let it idle today for about ten minutes and when I got out of the truck it had freaking gushed transmission fluid all over the ground. I'm fairly certain its a blown transmission cooling line. its dripping off the radiator and hoses and stuff and it looks like its coming from a line at a connection. I'm pissed. could this have damaged my transmission at all since there was basically none in it when I checked the dipstick? E4OD.

Its probably fine. Tranny doesn't have anything moving unless the truck is moving. Just messy and annoying.

Yes this could have possibly caused some damage as the torque converter and transmission fluid pump are both rotating even while your truck is sitting still

Doubtful you lost enough fluid to hurt anything. A quart of fluid spilled on ground "LOOKS" like a gallon as it creeps across the concrete.

yup so a cooling line blew. its official. ive researched and it seems a lot of people patch it up with rubber hose and i was planning on doing that but the problem is my leak is right up next to the fitting where it connects to the radiator. can i still use rubber hose to try and fix it?

You could just bypass the rad and go straight to a trans cooler. Or take a tube cutter and some wrenches to the wrecking yard and scoop a new fitting with a longer piece of line on it.

i thought about doing that, but I feel like it might just be easier to get a new fitting and a little rubber hose and patch it up.
