Default First attempt Custom Hood

I thought I'd try a little custom work on this build, starting with the hood.I wanted to do some sort of stamped lettering and since this is an 89 and it has the flat hood front and this truck is going to primarily haul a camper and didn't need the bent up tailgate,I thought I could cut the stamped F O R D out of the tail gate and weld it on the hood. First problem was it was too long to fit across the hood in its current state,so I cut each letter out and closed the spacing between the letters and welded it back together.Name: 1tailgate_zps7533d161.jpg

I then measure and cut the front of the hood.I borrowed a friends tool that creates a 1/2" indentation that the new panel can sit in to make it flush but because it's so close to the hood lip the tool wouldn't fit,so I had to improvise. My welding is not the best but I think it should be fine..Once that was welded in,I put some tiger hair then bondo and started the finish process. However I'm not quite done and won't be until the truck gets ready to paint. The change is subtle but still noticeable Name: 4tailgate_zps9bffd7f2.jpg

I got the idea from a Four wheel Magazine,I guy in the tough truck challenge did the hood of a older 70s model on the sides of the hood ,he used the tailgate of a couple old rangers that has the raised letters thats a lot more pronounced,Turned out very cool. I got mine in black primer now and you can see it up close real good at a distance it looks almost like decals..

I am seriously impressed. I don't usually like much, if any modification to the 8th and 9th generation bodies. However, this is awesome. When you start taking orders, let me know and I would be the first to purchase. This mod looks great!!!

I cant wait to see the end results of that and if it turns out as good as it sounds like it does I might just have to copy it.
