Okay, someone. Going clockwise on Your 302. How many over is the #1 plug on the cap from the clip on the left?

I have mine as the very first one after the clip, it runs, but it is also 18 degrees before TDC so I don't think it's right.

I tried moving it down to 10 and it has little power.

Thanks!

Doesn't matter where on the cap #1 is as long as it is in time. You can stab the distributor in any way and as long as you put #1 where it happens to be pointing on the cap it will run.

I've had fuel pumps you can hear when you turn the key but they end up being bad. I replaced one in my old truck 3 months ago that I had replaced a month before that and it would turn on when I hit the key but the pump was faulty. Changed the regulator and filter before doing a 2nd pump

Needs to be on second post to the right or clockwise from clip on the left. Yes you need to move them all one spot to the right. Number one will sit closer to firewall with distributer as shown in picture. You're having to twist it too much.
