I'm idling at about 2.2k. I just got the truck and haven't really gone over it yet. I'm a wuss and I'm waiting for warmer weather.

My major problem is that I'm used to how Dodges run, you know... AFU. So when something seems a bit out of kilter with this truck, I tend to shrug it off unless it's something obvious like knocking, pinging, or grinding.

Assming no vacuum leaks, disconnect the ISC (idle speed control), using the throttle adjusting screw set idle 450-500 RPM. Engine will barely run. This is done for one reason only, so the throttle plate won't stick in the closed position, the plate has to be open ever so little or it will bind in the bore. Now reconnect the ISC and the PCM (powertrain control module) takes over. Not sure of the high idle speed during cold weather, think my 02 is around 1600 and gradually falls back to about 1200 in a minute or so, final idle speed is 850-900.

Normal warm Idle for a 302 with A/T is 650-675 RPM.

Normally the adjustment screw should not be touched. Checked upper plenum for vacuum leaks at intake manifold, notorious for sucking gaskets in.

I finally took the truck to the shop after I couldn't find any more vacuum leaks. Turns out the engine is fine and I have a screwed up tach. No codes, no leaks.
