f150 tranny problem
dont take this offensively but if you're asking use for advice on this subject which you seem to not know a lot about, take ALL the advice we give you, not just what you feel like taking. either that or reread the stuff so you catch it all. no one said to rev it in park, that would prove nothing. not seeing anything in the shroud doesnt mean there isnt contact. the easier ways to see if its a mount is put it in DRIVE and brake torque it(hold brake pedal down firmly and give her a good amount of gas) just becareful not to slip and hit anyone/thing. or stick a pry bar by the mounts and pry away. you'll know if they are broken. check the transmission mount as well. if you drop the transmission, you'll be wasting time
no offense taken, i apologize for misreading the earlier posts. i forgot to try the apply the brake and gas method and i already took the tranny pan off and drained the fluid i did check the motor mounts and the tranny mount with a pry bar and there was no cracks on the motor mounts. before i do anything else should i just put the tranny pan back on and try the gas/ brake method?
when you used a pry bar, did you just pry on the mount itself? try prying the engine itself away from the frame and see what happens. also you said you had a manual shifter or whatever in there, is the linkage still good? also make sure your trans mount bolts are TIGHT on the cross member and the cross member is TIGHT on the frame. you can also check if anything is stuck in the bellhousing(i highly doubt it from what you said) there's an inspection plate on the front bottom of the trans held on by two bolts, pop it off and see if anything is up there. can you tell what area of the truck the noise is coming from? check out your u-joints for play. if you check all this and all seems fine it could be something with your diff. check ALL your fluids (trans, transfer if you're 4wd, diff[s]) when you dropped the pan, you went ahead and changed the filter right?
you wont see a broken engine mount where it breaks 99% without prying correctly or doing the brake/gas method, just be careful and gradually apply throttle. if none of these show any issues, it might be time to take it to a mechanic because anything grinding INSIDE the trans is extremely complicated. diffs i hear are a bear too. good luck though man, hope its nothing too bad
hey guys been a while but i finally figured out my problem.i pulled the tranny after trying everyone's advice which was great thanks for the help, but i had it looked at by a tranny shop i have used in previous trucks and have been very pleased with their work. they found the problem, turns out i had lost a pressure washer? im not quite sure what that is but he said when that went it ruined a whole bunch of other parts. now im buying a new tranny haha. im gonna put it in and see what happens hopefully nothing but only way to know is to give it a shot.

After you install the rebuilt transmission, let us know if the noise is still there.
(it sounded like i was grinding to plastic gears against each other)
We can all learn from each other...

ill definitely keep you guys updated. its a rebuilt off craigs but its kind of all i can afford. but on the bright side it is freshly rebuilt so it has zero miles so if it works hopefully i wont encounter another problem like this for a while. if not well thats what happens when buying a tranny off craigslist.
