I had a chance to do this swap, but found out the A/C pump might not work on the van bracket.

Older has larger diameter a/c compressor bolts. On the newer and Saginaw bracket the a/c compressor has dowel type sleeves to take care of that. Most compressors will accept the sleeves but you have to grab them with the bracket.

Thats what I needed to know. Now I know what to look for next time I'm picking in the yards around town.

Although its rare to find and intact E-150 van with an 300 in it, I only found 1 since last year.

Don't forget the compressor bolts too. I guess you could also tap the bracket for the larger bolts, it is only aluminum.

I could, tapping into aluminum cuts like butter.

Thanks yemski I like it too. I have driven back and forth to the deer lease a bunch of time, 360 mile round trip.. It does its intended tasked. Sometimes with a trailer sometimes bed full of deer corn. I've hauled lots of critters out in the bed. 4wd works excellent. Back and forth to work some and around town on errands. Pretty much my go too truck when roads get dicey. Thinking about this Saginaw mod and the timing bump these days and maybe wash it. Clean underside still clean, powerwasher comes in handy for this, especially when there's lots of mud.

So a 92-96 E series with the 4.9.. get the pump the bracket and the bolts/sleeves to the ac comp.

Thanks for all the feedback.Bear in mind however that I'm talking the steering box not the pump.

Yea,your thread got hijacked... I would think if the other steering gear fits and all other things being the same and its half the price. Why not? Put some synthetic or ATF IN there and rock on.
