Default engine swap info needed

Ive got a 94 2wd with a 4.9 in the truck, and im planning on switching to a 351 anyone know if the cross member will work and if not what truck would be best to get one out of. Also im pretty sure that the 5 speed i have will bolt right up, if someone could confirm this as well. Any info would be a great help.

thanks

not sure if the 351 will bolt to the 5 speed. is it a ford 5 speed? the 351 only came with the auto in the 1/2 tons if i remember right. not saying that you couldn't make it work tho.

yeah thanks im almost positive that the trans is not going to give me problems, i am however worried that the crossmember and getting the motor to bolt down will. If anyone has ever done this or knows anything about this it would be a great help.

Thanks

The crossmember and motormounts are probably going to be different for the 4.9 and the 5.8(351). You could try finding a truck at the salvage yard that has/had a 351 in it and swapping the crossmember and such.

Look at a v-8 truck's crossmember. I am thinking its the same. It just has stands that stick out to meet the straight six.

300 to 351 windsor have the same bell. We specifically ran the 300 bell housing on our late model as it was finned and had a nice big opening to run the hydraulic bleeder lines out the side (no need for a blowproof with a triple disk clutch). I don't think the crossmember is different but I'm sure the motor mounts would be. Good luck with the project.
