Default engine spark knock

my1994 f150 5.0 liter starts and runs great for 10 minutes then sounds like a diesel and dies.. after 30-60 min it restarts and repeates the process.. it all started shortly after my belt broke, even though it was only driven 1/4 mile before parking.truck was hardly hot when i stopped. coincidence ? it does have old plugs and wires. bad MAF ?

wow, just cleaned MFI and set timing and during the test run i noticed my radiator was spilling its guts... would the hot temps cause the symptoms i was having?

Sounds like the exhaust is restricted. How is the power for the ten minutes that it runs decent?

runs great until problems start.. it was running great yesterday after i unhooked the batt for 30 min & cleaned MAF and set timing to 10 deg but when i saw radiator leaking i shut it off before it got to hot. it sucks cuz now i have to go get new radiator before i can hope that was my problem..

I highly doubt the radiator was your issue, sounds like maybe your ignition coil or PIP sensor going out. Both will kill the engine once they are warmed up, then allow it to restart later once cooled down.

First step is to pull your codes.

Ignition coils are cheap and quick to replace, PIP on the other hand... it's usually easier to just replace the entire distributor.

will the coil make it sound like a diesel engine then die? once it gets warm it starts to spark knock & gets worse the more strain i put on it. it gets so bad i have to let off the gas & then it dies for 30-60 min.

i fixed the radiator good enough with soldering gun + epoxy to run truck 20 min today and had no problems with knocking or over heating. i didnt drive it around cuz of fear the radiator wld blow out again but renting Engine Block Combustion Leak Test Kit today. still at a loss on why it made spark knock & stall because the other day, i figured it wld have done it today running at normal temp for 20 min reving the engine..only thing i have done is unhook batt for 30 min & cleaned MAF sensor since my prob last week..

did the maf wire look dirty? if it was then that will cause a leaner condition...easily contributing to pinging
