Default Engine replacement

I now have the cash to replace my engine but I’m having trouble finding anything. Looking for a 302. I have checked junk yards. Do any of you have a reputable supplier of reman engines?

Jasper is all I've ever used.

Jasper dealer quoted me $5,100. Installed. I had a shop recommend powertrain products. $1,995 for the long block. They said they can install it or I can.

There's a reason Jasper (the national corporation) has been in business so long, but the local dealers are NOT why. I could hang a sign up & become a Jasper dealer if I wanted. You can buy a Jasper engine from a dealer, and have it installed anywhere (including in your driveway) by anyone at any price you agree to. If you can't find a dealer there who will sell you the engine at a reasonable price (probably in the $3500 range, but I haven't priced one in decades), Memphis isn't very far, and there's a Jasper distributor here (corporate - not a dealer).

So Ford dealership runs $9998. for a new motor installed with Ford parts. Powertrain remans are $3500 and a independent shop charges 5-7k to install. Thats almost 10k right there. Why wouldn't you want the dealership to install with a 3ur warranty?
Seems like dealership is the way to go.
I'd had a hard tine finding a shop that i trust to do the work.

My quote from power train for a 302 long block was $2,100. I’m not sure where you are getting your quotes but 5-7k for install only is incredibly high around here. I can install it myself.

If I can get $5-7K / install, and you can line me up five a week, I quit my job tomorrow...

Seriously lol. I would do 1 install a week and be happy.

OP are you looking for something new, used or reman? Maybe pull your engine out and have a local engine rebuilder rebuild it for you?

I totally agree with you. An engine swap for a 5.0L / 5.8L rebuilt should not be more than $4K. Rebuilt 5.0/8 should not be more than $2.5K, then another $1K for install. These are not complicated to put in.

The OP's price is so far off the mark, probably not even worth dealing with the shop. Sounds like the shop does not want to do engine work, just sell over priced tires and oil.

Have any of you called Jasper recently for their price on a 5.0L/5.8L long block delivered?
