Getting very strange ...
OK, you're supposed to have the black icm with an auto, but regardless, the truck was working with grey.
You get a pip signal so the pip is working and the dist is turning. You have power to the coil. You have a new ICM in various colours that don't work right.
I'm running out of the simple stuff.
If everything we already talked about is good, and there aren't any broken wires, I can only think PCM or spout circuit, but honestly I don't know how much bearing they would have on this. I just don't think there's anything else in that circuit.
I have heard that if you unplug the pcm and then get spark the pcm is the problem. I do not know if that's true or not.
But I'm starting to scratch my head trying to figure this one, and it ain't working !
I will be very curious to know what actually fixes it.

I've read up on the pcm and seems like everyone disagrees, but I plan to unplug the pcm tomorrow just to see if I can get a spark. This thing is wearing me out. I am planning on doing some deer hunting, but only a few days left. I've been out working on the river for a month and now spent a week without my truck.

In this pic, wire #2 is the one I've been testing...however, I've been testing it on the opposite end where it goes into the plug for the ignition coil. In the morning, I'm going to try testing it here at the icm plug. If I get a pulse signal there, then that means there has to be a break somewhere between the two. Not sure if maybe there's a fusible link in there somewhere that may have went bad.

Edit:No fusible links, according to the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual...but it does show a resistor inline between the icm and coil (same wire I'll be testing). I wonder how often those go bad?

Default Still no spark

Ok, I tried testing the same ignition coil wire where it comes out of the icm. Still no flashing. Everything leads me back to a bad icm, but I've tried new ones and had the old one tested. I may take this new one off and see if they can test it. I don't know what else to do.

Gotta be pulling your hair out by now. I would suggest maybe going to Ford for the ICM. As overpriced as they seem to be, their sh*t works. And they'll give you the proper one.
Other than that well I just ripped apart a "96 - same ICM. PM me an address, I'll mail you the one off this truck, at least I know it works. If you plug it in and get a spark, you know they sold you a garbage icm. If it doesn't work in your truck then you know you gotta look at something else.
I'm pretty sure your problem is some simple little thing. Once you find it, everything else will work golden.

Thanks and I'm sure it is something simple...that's the problem lol!
I still think it has to be the module. Before, I was barely getting a signal from the module to the coil. That was with the old module. With the new one, I got nothing. I think I'll throw the old one on there again and put the test light on it again...just to see if there's still a weak signal. If so, I'll go get one from Ford. I'm sure they're dirt cheap, hehe! Anyway, I've already bought two at around $50 each!

Just 4 kicks what were the other codes? Or better yet repull them.

Sorry. Don't recall the other codes. It's only getting the "111" now, though.

But...I replaced the ignition module with another new one and the truck started right up, but kept cutting out. Just for the kicks, I threw on a new ignition coil. Runs like a top now.

Edit: I did the resistance test on the coil before, and it tested fine. I even took it to the parts store to have them double check it. They said the same thing...tested good. Other than taking readings on the primary and secondary coils, I'm not aware of another way to test them. If anyone can tell me, I would love to know.
