Default Engine Idles High

I have a 1992 F150 5 speed manual and when I start the truck to warm up in the morning the engine idles pretty high right around 1500 until I step on the gas once and the rpm's go down to normal. Is this an issue I should be worried about or no big deal?

Sounds normal to me. Especially for this time of year. You may want to try cleaning the IAC valve and throttle body just to get a look at what's going on. There's a lot of factors at hand when idle problems come into play: vacuum lines, throttle position sensor, air charge temperature sensor, iac valve, egr position sensor.

In my opinion, you might want to check for codes first.

I believe they all are supposed to do it. Someone told me once it is similar to a choke. It just does it until it is warmed up or if you touch the gas pedal. I don't believe you have anything to worry about.

Same will rev quickly to about 1400 rpm for a few seconds, then settle down to 1000 and drop to 700 once its warmed up. Been getting colder, just not enough snow.
