Engine Electrical Plugs
I'm changing the engine in my truck with another one and the main electrical plugs don't match up(its a 1991 is the on I'm replacing)...the plugs on my engine have the four separate plugs (its a 91')...and the other engine has the one big plug(its a 92')...i looked it over and all the plugs were the same besides the distributer plug had 5 wires on the 92' instead of 6 on the 91' is there any way to cut the wires and then splice them into the old wiring harness to make them work or do they make adapters for the smaller plugs

The truck is a 1991 ford f-150 and it has the 4 smaller wiring harnesses that hook up to the fender and then to the battery and dash and so forth...well i got a different engine in it to replace the old one...it came out of a 1992 f-150 well the engines are the exact same...only problem is the wiring harness is just one great big one, then i look at it closer...i could just switch the harnesses around, all the plugs on the motor are the same. then i looked at the distributer and it is not the same...it only has 5 wires on the newer harness for the distributer instead of 6 on the old. Anyone know if there is a possible way to cut and splice the new plug onto the old wiring harness

srry...
...forgot all about that its a 300 I6...i was wondering if they make adapters to make the 4 smaller plugs fit the 1 big plug on the wiring harness. The only problem with the old distributer is that the distributer is shot and it would need to be replaced anyway...And i don't know if the ecu's are customary cause if they are then thats to bad...haha

I'm going to throw caution to the wind (someone jump in if you don't think it will fly). Bring the engine around to top dead center on the #1 cylinder compression stroke & swap distributors if your not using the harness & ECU from the donor also. Or keep the distributor & use the donor harness & ECU also as is customary.
here is the harnesses ends for a 1991-1992 300 I6 maybe this will help...the pic on top is in the harness for the 1991 on the truck...I'm trying to see if there is an adapter to go to this sort of set up of harness wires(Wondering if anyone knew of one)...the pic on bottom is from a 1992 and the one i need an adapter for to get the harness to fit the 1991 connectors
If I'm not using the right term for Wat these are, can u tell me Wat the right terms are so that i can look things up easier...These harnesses are What hook in to the throttle body, oil sender, distributer, etc.
If you don't understand still...is there an adapter to get the harness in the bottom pic to fit the harness connectors on the truck that look like the harness in the top pic
