I'm lookin for an f150 to daily drive. What kind of mpgs are you guys getting out of the 351s? I'm used to daily driving on around 11 mpg from my 03 5.4 f150(wantin to get rid of it due to loving this body style) but if the 351 gets around the same as the 460 I may get a nicer 250.
All depends on the trans your going to put behind the 351w.

- with a C6 stock everything your looking at 9 - 11MPG.
- with a E4OD stock everything you look at 11-16 MPG
- with a 5 speed stock everything you might be able to pull 12 - 17 MPG

I don't watch mine very closely but 8-10 is about what my 351 is doing. Probably closer to 8 especially in winter/snow... I beat this truck like it owes me money.

Oh that's not bad at all. You guys were describing it the way I describe my 460 haha. You watch your gas gage go down as the speedo goes up hahaha.

Is the e4od a good tranny?

In my opinion, the E4OD is a great transmission. Just don't go cheap with the fluid and you'll be ok for years to come.

E4OD is a good tranny if you are keeping it stock and just daily driving it on the black top. The 96 E4OD is the best of the series Ford upgraded components of the E4OD as the years passed.

What!!!!! How! That's more than my 5.4 usually gets! My 460 drinks gas like crazy

So you guys are thinking a 351 with the e4od would be my best bet?

I can get 18 mpg out of my 5.4 easy!
But yes I run a 5.8 e4od 4x4 everyday as my welding truck and it's a great truck! Plenty of power and very reliable!
