Default Electrical Problem

I have a 1996 F-150 LT with few options other than a/c. The electrical system has developed an issue that I don't understand. The dome light does not come on when the door is opened and the buzzer does not activate when the key is inserted with the door open. The underhood light will not come on with the hood open, and the starter will not turn with the key in the start position.

When I jumper the S wire to the positive battery cable at the solenoid with the key in the run position, the underhood light comes on, the starter activates and the truck runs, but the starter does not disengage.

I have checked the starter and the solenoid but the problem does not seem to be in the starter circut.

Any thoughts?

Did you check to see if the fuse for the buzzer circuit is getting power? A wire could've shorted to ground before the fuse block and could be fowling up the whole getdown.

I checked all of the fuses located under the dash on the driver's side and all appear to be fine. Good suggestion, I'll change it just to be sure.

Thanks

Take a test light to all of your fuses to see if they're all actually getting power. Just cause the fuse is good doesn't mean that it's getting power.

Is anyone familiar with the relays in the power block under the hood and could a failed relay cause these symptoms?

Does the truck stay running if you unhook the jumper from the start wire while the truck is running?
