Question egr delete

Can i remove the egr system on my 95 4.9 I6??

I don't recommend it, and I haven't done it. That being said, I feel the best way is to make a block off plate and put it in with another gasket. That way the computer still sees it's there and working.

Lots of posts on this subject, do yourself a favor and do a search. Strongly advise not removing the egr. It reduces power efficiency, engine life and increases emissions. There is no sin to removing egr on a street engine.

that is WRONG....

on a street driven vehicle especially one that sees a load it will help drastically by reducing cylinder temps to prevent Ping and Detonation. It also reduces emissions. It allows you to run more timing advance for off the line acceleration... which also help tremendously....

leaving it alone is very beneficial... they should only be removed in racing situations...but thats is all....on a truck that sees use running without an EGR valve can actually cause a burnt hole in a piston under the right conditions...
