Default Efi or carb?

I have a 1987 f150 4x4 302 manual 4speed, I currently have the motor out do to no oil pressure and while I'm fixing this problem I am trying to decide weather I should leave it efi or convert it to carb because last it was running it won't idle or drive exactly right I have a parts truck with a 351 that I have used the tps sensor and iac sensor off of and it still won't run right so I was thinking instead of dealing with efi I could just do a carb set up but it will be my daily driver and not sure if a carb will totally ruin my mpg or it won't effect it much? So any opinions? Also I have the intake and carb already what else do I need to do the conversion ?

Efi. I can't believe we keep having this discussion. Sorry I know its your first post so you might want to search the subject. We cover it all the time. Fix the efi right and its more efficient and reliable than carb. Carbs require regular maintenance and adjustments and can't adjust for changing conditions. They also create more pollution, are less efficient and are harder on the engine. Oil must be changed more often and valves, and plugs must be cleaned more often. Rings and cylinders wear more with carb. OK now someone can tell you his great carbs are and their friend has one with 500k miles and it does 200mph and gets 35 mpg and the only reason we don't use them anymore is because of tree hugging hippies. And that electronics is from the devil.

Keep EFI. You'd be taking a huge step backwards going to a carb. Replace your vacuum hoses with new rubber hoses, vacuum T's and vacuum adapters. That will take you a long way as far as eliminating problems associated with EFI.

So I had low oil pressure right? I pulled the motor and took off the oil pan and the people we got the truck from put the oil pump gasket on half way and cut the oil passage half way off. And guess what was in the oil pickup screen? Acorn shells and chunks of rubber who ever worked on it must of did a shade tree job lol

That's funny. At least it was an easy fix.
