Default E4OD differences

I'm going to get the transmission in my 96 rebuilt, but I'm going to get one from the junkyard 1st so I can continue to drive my truck while he is building the "new" one. My question is, are there any differences in the transmission from the OBD1 years to the OBD2 year that I have? Any help would be great, thanks.

if your trucks odb1 stick with odb1. theres a few options for our trucks if you want to stick with the stock one the truck came with just be sure to get a 1992-1995 A4OD transmission. I beleve all you would need to do to swap your A4OD with another style of the year range pick up the Ecu from the truck as well.

E4OD. Not A4OD.

Also there were slight upgrades made to the E4OD over the years before it was renamed the 4r100. I think at 94 and 98 were the first two upgrades so I would shoot for at least a 94 E4OD.

^ yup, and I think it was again updated in 96. Making 96 the best year for e4ods in f150s. I can't remember what the update in 96 was though.

And I think the first update was in 92, but I could be wrong.

Oh, I just so happened to stumble across those pics in the drivetrain section. Here, and tell us which transmission you have.
