E-fan Conversion
Yep....aftermarket fans always have that whine to them and pull a great deal more amperage than factory e-fans. I've worked several movies with cars that have been upgraded to aftermarket fans and they usually have one car for the close up shots that runs stock fans and one for the chase scenes where there's background music and you don't hear the car itself. We had 2 jags in the movie straw dogs. One was stock and quiet, the other had aftermarket fans and was ridiculously loud. Needless to say, the loud jag was the chase car and you never heard the actual car in it's shots.
Hi guys I just want to say that Efans works great for our trucks. All depend how big or small you use them or bran and how you make them. I did my set up few years ago and I haven had any problem yet and summer here California central valley (Fresno) it gets hot 100+ degrees.

My opinion water touching temperature sensor it better than just air.
I havent have a chance to wire them for the A/C cause my engine its old and wear already and every time I turn it on I can feel taking lot of power away from engine ( engine more than 420,000 miles already and still going , engine still original just regular maintenance).

Sensor in the water flow is fine, but 8th needs to be in the lower hose. A sensor in the top hose spells disaster if you unknowingly develop a leak and the water drops below the sensor level. Same is true for the sensor that attaches to the radiator. Do Not put the sensor at the top of the radiator! Big mistake! I have a slight t-stat housing leak and every couple of months I have to top it off to keep the e-fan switch operating. 1/2 a gallon low is all it takes for the sensor, flow or air to fail.
I have a small leak myself from water pump gasket or timing cover gasket I have to add about 8 oz. of water every weekend, havent had time to fix it so I have to make sure I check water level every weekend.
I have my thermal switch on the t-stat housing that way the fans turns on as soon as hot water start coming out of the engine and turn off till t-stat close with the cool water.
I know any of them can fail air or thermal switch or like you said low on water thats why I installed a BYPASS switch and LED light to the Efans. LED light to know when they are ON (I can tell when they turn on cause alternator needle drops but then go to normal and I can heard little of noise some times).
I know where the temperature gauge needle should be at normal so if I see its moving to the hot positions and fans hasnt turn on (LED light not ON) I can turn them manually.
All I can say is just to be care full with set up and dont take any chances on overheating the engine, and if you have any leaks try to fix it before you do the Efan set up.

I replaced my waterpump and thermostat recently, very easy. Yes you must remove the fan and shroud and also (I know it sounds bad) the PS pump bracket as it's hiding a critical bolt. Do yourself a favor and check you hoses before you start, anything that looks questionable get a replacement and swap them out during the switch. Flush your radiator and heater core while everything is disconnected.
