Dtc codes
So, I have a 95 f150 302 4x4. My overdrive light is flashing it wont shut off or on its just flashing. Its not running hard or funny but Idk what is wrong I have disconnected the battery also go some new terminal connections. Which allowed the Check engine light to stay on so I was able to take it to the part store and read it the code its throwing is a DTC code where in the heck would I find possible fixes for this?? The code reads as follows.
DTC 637
TRANSMISSION FLUID/OIL
CIRCUIT ABOVE MAX TEMP.
I'm lost dont know to much about transmissions, but I called the auto part store to see if I can replace any sensors transmission related and they pulled up 2. They were both are speed sensors, one is for the automatic transmission and one is for the truck. All in all that is only about 55$ so I am planning on replacing them anyway. but I didn't know if that would fix the problem,

Dodge+Ford = always ready
im thinking your transmission is slipping which means its getting hot and throwing those cods. does your transmission smell burned? or is it miss colored.

It is not slipping. The fluid is fine no color or smell

First, the sensors are there for a reason. When they throw a code you don't just replace them. When your gas gauge tells you your out of fuel you dont replace the sender right? See if the fluid is actually hot. Check the level and look for signs of failure. Check for noises. If all is fine clear codes and test the sensor. You are looking for the transmission oil temp sensor. The code definition I have says it was high or open so its possible you have a wiring issue.

Defiantly hot tranny. I've had a few buddies have this problem. Always pull over and let it cool off for a few minutes (10 min )when you see the code. If you turn it off while cooling and go to start it again and see no code then it's defiantly slipping.

Assuming you trust the guy from you shop, take it to him while the light is flashing. Mane note of what you do right to get the light to come on ( driving speed, stop and go, highway, distance traveled, etc. )
