Default Do I have an add-a-leaf installed?

I can't really remember what the craigslist ad for my truck said when I bought it, I think it said that it had either bigger leaf springs or add-a-leafs installed. I know these trucks don't sit level when they're stock but mine sits like a damn drag car lol. I think it also is making my truck handle like **** because it's so stiff in the back.

I was wondering if you guys could tell me from the pic posted below. It would also be helpful if you could tell me how to remove the add-a-leaf instead of me just going on common sense.

My '87 has 5 leaves just like yours does, but you have a lift block in there. Looks to be a few inches. That's the block between the axle and springs. If you remove it you may have to get shorter u-bolts but those may have enough threads to reuse and then cut off the excess length. The front looks to have some kind of lift on it too.

I'm wondering if I remove that lift block if it will cause any issues. On the inner side of the lift block there is a bump stop landing for the rubber bump stop on the frame to hit but if I remove the block will it be fine if it hits the axle? I'm not really sure how it is stock.

Thanks

Really confused now because on there it shows the stock springs for sale and says 4 pack, but there's 5 in the picture?

That bump stop should be there either way - the block is kicking up the back of your truck a couple inches.

I'd agree that there is some sort of lift on the front too...

If you want to get the rear down level with the front, you might be able to get away with pulling the bottom leaf out too. I'd try just removing the block first, and see how it looks. If you need shorter U-bolts, your local auto parts store will have them.

The thing is that the bump stop landing is part of the lift block. I'm just wondering if it would be normal for the bump stop to rest on the axle if my truck was overloaded or if i need that lift block for the landing.

The tires are 235/75/r15's so i'm not sure if that makes it look like the front is lifted, maybe it is but I'm not sure what to look for to tell.

Those are the same size that are on mine. Mine is a 2wd, but your 4x4 should only give you 2" in height from the factory. If there is a front lift, it would be with longer coil springs more than likely.

I wouldn't get too concerned with the bump stops - you can always get a set from the scrap yard after getting things the way you want them.

The thing is that there are bump stops on my frame over the axles but I was just wondering if it is alright for them to rest on the axle itself if I remove those lift blocks and am overloaded by some chance.

Seeing as how I may have a lift on the front I wonder if I could fit 33's :P Too bad I don't think my truck is geared low enough, probably blow through my clutch in no time.

The factory bump stops are all you need.

What rear end do you have? You can check the code on the driver's door sticker on this website to find your rear end ratio:

If you guys wanted to know I found out my rear end ratio is 3.06
There goes my dream of 33's haha, First truck that I've actually had on the road (I'm 17) so I'm trying to decide whether I want to put money into it to make it something nice or just sell it down the road.

Looks like you have the 5 leafs (heavy duty springs) on the back.
I don't think it looks tilted forward that much..If it is you could put a 4"inch taller springs (with out changing other parts) and shocks in front to bring the front up (maybe the front springs are worn witch would make it handle like crap), and go with your 33" tires. Worn sway bar mounts will make it tipsy...the short of it...I think your trouble is in the front.
