Default dimmer switch wire missing, there before?

So, I'm taking my truck home this weekend finally, and I'm told that somehow my dimmer switch got disconnected from the wire, and that took out my headlights entirely. I need the headlights for it to be legal, but I can't find the wire to re-attach to the dimmer switch to get my lights back. I have a foot dimmer on a 1990 xlt lariat, the only picture I've got to offer is the following picture. Sideways, by the way. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The one I pulled that was loose wasn't actually a wire, it ended off in what looked like a clearish stiff tip. The dimmer switch has three prongs on it, and I can't find anything that looks like it should go there, or anything else period

It was there I know it was. I had an 88 basically same truck. So I know it is was there. I am pouring over a chiltons trying to figure out where it ran to exactly. Maybe someone can post a pic for us to see exactly what we are looking for.

Some moron must have removed the entire wire. I wonder why but whom knows anymore.

That's what I was thinking, I know the wire was there because the switch worked before I took it there. Even up under the dash there's nothing that looks like it would fit. I gotta get me a chilton or haynes...

It was hooked up before you took it to a mechanic?

Not a shop, just a friend's usual guy they take vehicles to. I had the panel off that covers it to get to the door hinge so I could replace the hinge. The switch was hooked up then, not when I got it back though.
