MAF (Mass Air Flow) is a sensor in the air inlet tube usually near the air filter box. It has 2 or three wires and it calculates the rate of air flow going into the throttle body. A MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor has is normally remotely located on the firewall or intake maifold with a vacuum hose attached. Both work better and/or with an intake air temp sensor. Again, transitional year. I'll take a picture of my engine.

I stand corrected. I was wrong about the inlet pipe. It's MAF but I was wrong about the tube structure. Here's a current dirty picture.

yea thats what my 96 f150 has, but i kept hearing rumors about people having trucks that were MAF and didn't have the sensor there and it was hidden somewhere else lol. so i guess my 97 f250 is a MAP hopefully its as easy to work on as my 96 f150.
