Sean. I imagine you are referring to me.
I entered into this thread for two reasons.
1) To ask some different questions from the group to try to help cjwat24 find answers to the problem with his truck
2) to answer a question of my own since I didn't know the exact plumbing and switching that is used to control the fuel pumps and fuel routing in Fords dual tank system.

For my trying to help cjwsat24 and ask questions of my own you think I am an *******???
That was a very juvenile response.
Thanks
DT

Unfortunately I don't know exactly how it works. I don't know exactly how the backflow preventer on my hose bib works but I know it keeps the nasty hose water from contaminating the house water. I also have one on my main line so the house water doesn't contaminate the water supply. If I had that system it would be apart on my lawn so I could see exactly how it works. So my theory is that the valve is always closed until the selected pump pressurizes that tanks feed line on the fuel pump side and opens the return. That way when the non-selected tanks lines are pressurized it is from the other side, not the fuel pump side, and the valve remains closed. The valve is stuck open on the non-selected tank and fuel flows into it. With this type of system the valve would have to be tied to both supply and return, supply to operate it and return to close it off. Remember I said I don't know exactly how it works. It could easily work in reverse or give me enough time and I could figure out a way it could work only being hooked to one side. That being said, they are both equally old and could fail at almost the same time or you didn't really notice at first when the first one went.

I thought it was funny. Plus I didn't say you were an *****hole, I said you sounded like one.
