Default cold coolant temp

My truck seems to run cold according to the temp gauge. I have replaced the thermostat, temp sensor and fan clutch but it still seems to run down at about the first 1/4 of the gauge. I assume that normal is in the middle (1/2 way) Is this unusual?

You need to take a reading on the thermostat housing w/ a Laser thermal reader($20. @ harbor Freight & tool) or do an error code scan at norm op. temp. to see if the ECT senor is showing out of range.

If you replaced the temp sensor that is what sends information to the ECM the temp switch is what goes to the gauge.

I had the same question when I got my truck. The needle stays at the cold side. It's probably fine.
