Default Cold air intake

I just figured I'd try out my photobucket account and see how it works. I built a cold air intake for my 94 f150 with a 5.8 in it. I built one previously for my old bronco and it worked out pretty good. I started with the intake off from a MAF truck. I used the 2 rubber tubes off from the throttle body and the "y" tube. I used some plastic epoxy from permatex and I glued a hunk of 3" id pvc pipe to the "y" pipe. The filter I had was a 4" k and n left over from my cummins. So I used a 3" coupler to get the diameter for the filter to clamp too. I removed my old system and put the new one on, it rests into the metal tray from the old one. Let me know what you guys think!

they work! looks good. id like to fab a snorkle for mine. i could use a new drivers fender anyway so cutting the wrong size hole in it would give me a good excuse to replace it. if anyone on here has fabbed one, post some pics!

Looks great.

Only concern is with the PVC pipe. They put off a toxic fume when melted so be very careful that it doesn't get to hot.

Thanks guys! I had the same thing on my old bronco and I drove prolly 25,000 miles with it before I sold the truck. I was worried about the pvc melting but it never seemed to. Its not really near anything to awful hot. That is good to know that the fumes are toxic when melted I didn't know that. I will keep an eye on it. I've got $15 in the MAF intake, $8 in the epoxy, the pipe and coupler were left overs from the first one I built, the filter was left over from my diesel, and $11 in paint lol. So needless to say I didn't break the bank! LoL As far as the snorkel goes you could probably run a chunk of pipe over to your fender then just run an elbow outside your fender and head north with another chunk of pipe put a filter up top and away you go. You could get fancy and run it along your A pillar if you wanted to. It would look a little redneck but it would work great! Do they make safari snorkels for these trucks?

Could you use an exhaust y pipe to do a 2 into 1 on a 5.0? The just run a straight piece of pipe to the filter?

Sure you could however keep in mind that if that exhaust pipe gets hot that will raise your intake temps which would completely defeat the purpose of having a "cold air intake"

this is gonna sound ghetto rigged as all hell but you got me thinking about the snorkel and i had a thought that you could possibly use a gutter to make it.

Yes, of course PVC is toxic......Lucky for you the normal melting point for it is around 500 degrees Fahrenheit.....I like the intake, nice clean look to it.
