Code 172 question...
(1995 5.0 302)
Can a 172 (lean right side O2 sensor reading) be caused by a leaking exhaust manifold?
And has anyone had an exhaust manifold fixed/replaced and perhaps remember the cost?
If I had the time and a spare vehicle, I'd try it myself but I don't have either so I'm afraid I need to pay someone.

i replaced my right side exhaust manifold. it was cracked right in half. 25 bucks for the manifold off a truck at the junkyard, 25 for new manifold to y pipe studs. took it off myself.

crack in manifold opens up w/heat
flow of exhaust causes pressure drop &
sucks o2 in
sensor reads false o2 as lean
old manifold easy off, brake 7/16 studs o/well
new ex will have
recomend new o2 sensor
