Default Clutch Question

Hey guys, on my F-150 you have to let the clutch almost all of the way out before it engages. It has 95 thousand miles, and original clutch. There is also some clutch chatter when let out in first gear but it has been sitting for a few years before I got it. I do not want to drive it and have the clutch go out. Clutch reservoir is up to the correct level. It is a 1985 model.

Thanks for the help!

I think on that 85 model there is clutch adjustment at the slave cylinder! I think not sure?

If it were me, i would just plan on replacing the nearly 30 year old clutch!

I wonder if the flywheel has some surface rust causing your chatter.

I am betting that surface rust is the culprit for the chatter, after I started driving it a little while it got much better

You're in the wrong section. But if '85 is like my '87 then the clutch pushrod is adjustable.

Oh shoot, sorry about that. Usually I am use to posting about my 95 instead. Forgot all about the classic corner section. Which way do you adjust the push rod? Do you mean the one that goes through the firewall? or the one that is mounted on the outside of the tranny?

This section gets more traffic anyways, but keep in mind they are different. The rod under the dash.
