Default Clutch issues

Hi folks, Hope you can help. My old plow truck starts and runs fine but won't move in any direction. 87 f150, 302, 4 speed manual. I can shift thru all the gears with the engine running without pressing in the clutch and nothing happens. My son was driving last night and it broke down on him driving down the road. had to tow it home. The clutch pedal feels different from the last time I drove it almost like its already engaged but the pedal returns most of the way back to the top. Checked the clutch fluid level and its seems fine. Any ideas?

The clutch is gone out I bought a 1989 F150 last year with the same problem. Put in a new clutch set and it is working fine now.

Did you notice any clutch-burning smell while the truck was running and trying to engage the clutch? I suppose that the clutch disk could be burned down and allowing engagement with no movement, but I was wondering about the feel of the pedal. The feel would not be different unless there is a leak in the line or the cylinder(s), slave and or master was bad. Those cylinders dictate the presure of the pedal, the disk allows engagement of the tranny tothe engine to move the truck forward or backward. Just to be sure, I would check the slave and master for leaks as well. Though, there may not be leaks at either and one or both may still be bad. have either been replaced? Finally, I would also see if there were any different sounds or "feelings" from the tranny itself. Could be some rings or gears bad internally, but I hope it isn't that bad. Hope this helps.

Thanks SRT8dogg. I didn't smell clutch at all that same morning when I drove it. My son told me there was a bang then it coasted to a stop. I'll look at the cylinders. It would be nice if that was it since its external on my truck. i just bought the truck so I don't know if they have ever been replaced. Tranny isn't making any sounds at all. Its almost as if the clutch is engaged. Nothing is happening in the tranny as far as I can tell.

The shifter seems to be the same. I can hear it going into gear when moving it around and it still feels the same as far as i can tell

I had the 4 speed until I swapped in the 5 speed. That never happened to mine but some problems I did have were: the previously mentioned shifter breaking twice, lost first gear twice, lost overdrive twice, shattered syncronizers, and the secondary gear shaft wore down. This was the TOD 4 speed, not the granny low 4 speed.
