Default Chime Module

Today I reconnected my chime/buzzer module under the dash for the door open, lights on, key in ignition. It was disconnected by the previous owner. I do like my chime/buzzer module because it does remind me that my lights are on. However, is it possible for me to simply cut the wire for circuit 159 (Driver Door Open Input) at the chime/buzzer so that the chime/buzzer will not sound constantly when my door is open? Initially, when I reconnected the chime/buzzer the door could be open without the key in but now with the door open and no key in the ignition, the chime/buzzer sounds constantly. If I cut the wire (159) going into the chime/buzzer I am thinking this should resolve the issue without impacting the dome light or other features of the chime/buzzer circuit. Thoughts???

FOLLOW UP: I unpinned the wire (R/PK) going into the connector for the chime/buzzer and it did stop the buzzing with the door open (key in or out of ignition) but it also stopped the alerting if the headlights are left on! I will continue researching this thru the wiring diagram and update later.

Would like to know more about this as well as mine only chimes on door and buzzes on key not the lights. Can't tell how many times my battery has died because I forgot to turn them off.

Depinning is OK; cutting a wire is not. The chime sounds with the door open because it thinks the key is in. Fix the lock cylinder &/or the key-in switch:

Default Is the buzzer necessary

So my trucks buzzer goes off when the door is open, regardless of key in the ignition or not, sometimes… sometime I will get in and nothing will buzz and then I might shake the truck or bump the steering wheel, then the buzzer will sound until the door is shut… can I unplug this buzzer until I get around to fixing the connections causing it to sound? Will this affect anything?

Yes! Just unplug it chime stops. Took mine out a while back because the door was misaligned and buzzer buzzed constantly. I replaced door hinges and realigned the door but buzzer I just left out.

damn… so what happened to all the info threads you had… I guess if they weren’t stored on fsb… I seem to remember build/repair thread I would find under your post being links to supermotor… weird stuff… but anyway, thanks for the bronco info back in the day, and thanks for the F150 info currently
