Clamp what. Id be kinda nervous about cutting the filter in case of sparks or the fact i might not beable to get the filter out still and be screwed lol

Well.... Don't cut it with a torch but... You can put a lit cigarette out in gasoline so I would not be worried about cutting a filter with a pair of snips like previously suggested.

I'd try the plastic tool first. I've had luck with it when the metal one didn't work.

What happens is when inserting removal tool you don't get it in far enough. Then you pull on the filter too hard and it curls over one of the metal retainers. At this point it's nearly impossible to get the tool to slide past them. By clipping the filter out of the way you can swing the line to face you and repair the thin metal retainer. I've had fords towed to my shop in this condition. you'll be surprised how much easier this was than messing with the filter in place. If you have a front tank there's not a lot of room to work.

Plastic tool every time, push the tool in and twist while pushing the filter in and it pops right out. Believe it or not the fuel tank connectors come out like butter compared to the filter.

Does anyone have a pic of this plastic tool. If its better i will give it a try. Dont think i have ever seen one tho. And does napa or advance auto got them. Since there my closest stores.

The angled 3/8" fuel line disconnect works best. I'll see if I can find a picture
