Default Can't pull the codes

My truck has been having issues lately with randomly dying or not starting.

I've replaced the PIP, TFI, coil, distributor (with the new PIP in it), cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Prior to the work, I pulled codes and got a 211 (among some others, one of which was O2 sensor...I made a post some time ago with all the codes IIRC). After everything was replaced, it ran fine for a little while, then began to have problems again.

Now, it died on me again yesterday. No luck getting it going again. No spark, no fuel. I replaced the fuel pump relay to no avail. However, I tried performing a KOEO test, and nothing happened. The CE light never flashed; it was as if the jumper wire wasn't even there. To be sure, I checked and re-checked to make sure the jumper was inserted far enough, it was inserted in the right place, etc. and everything was fine. The truck just wouldn't enter diagnostic mode.

I'm leaning toward bad ECM, but I don't want to throw any more money at this thing if it isn't needed

That usually means a bad ECM, or the ECM isn't getting power.

What about the PCM (ECU) relay next to the f/p relay? It has to engage before the fuel pump relay can! Are either pulling in? (they are not interchangeable although they appear to be)

Yea, that would be one reason why the ECM wouldn't get power.

Thanks for the help guys.

Would the relay be causing the intermittent stalling problem? Seems like a relay either works or it doesn't...also, if the ECM were on the fritz, isn't there usually a code associated with that? The last time I was able to pull codes, I got a 111 for active codes and the other ones mentioned above were all KAM codes.

If the PCM relay drops out, your not going to get any codes from it. It also has to be energized to energize the fuel pump relay.

Ok, got the truck back home now at least. I ended up finding a blown fuse in the power distribution box, replaced that, and it fired right up. [ETA: it was fuse 22, distributor ignition pickup, coil, and TFI...I can see why it wouldn't start with that fuse blown] It's still not fixed, but at least I can rule out the ECM.

Once I got it home, I was able to pull codes. On KOEO I got 172, 211, and 212, all KAM. KOER gave me 172 and 213.

Seems my 211, 212, and 213 are all related to the ignition components that have been replaced. After I replaced the parts, I did disconnect the battery (must have been at least 20 minutes...enough time for a beer and a smoke). When I performed the timing bump I disconnected the SPOUT during timing and replaced it when finished.

I am wracking my brain trying to figure this one out

After fixing the blown fuse, did you disconnect the battery again? If you didn't then those codes can be because of the fuse.
