Default a/c core or heater core?

There is sweet smell (like a coolant) in the cabin for a few minutes after the car starts. It goes away. There is also very small puddle/wet spot on the passenger side floor. I just started using the A/C. If a/c core is leaking, can it make a drops of liquid, because I thought a/c was filled with gas? Or is the a/c leaking, but the water spot is just the condensation?
Or is it just the heater core that is leaking?
Thank you in advance.

That would be the heater core leaking, may have just been a coincidence when you started to use the A/C.

You may have a leaking hearter core and a clogged A/C drain

Thank you. Finally saw green drops on the floor, removed the heater core, and it's leaking from the joint where metal pipe attaches to the core body. Until it gets here, I got the heater hoses directly connected. I am thinking of adding tees and shut off valves so I can bypass the heater core in summers. A/C was definitely cooler today.

That or you can temporarily bypass the heater core from under the hood from the water pump to the T-stat housing.

Edit: Ohh wait you already did that, whoops

I know some Chevys have a vacuum controlled heater cutoff valve which is operated by the a/c controls. It would be pretty easy to hook up.
