1987 flange mount hub conversion
I have a 1987 fl150 with the flange mount hubs. I just recently pulled the axle shafts spindles, rotors, etc... out of a 1989 bronco and took off all of the flange mount stuff. I put everything on, the problem i'm having is the warn hubs I bought, the outer snap ring will go on, but the smaller inner snap ring will only go on if i pull the axle retainer clip off(the half clip thing behind the hub body on the axle shaft). I torqued everything to specs and have the little nipple on the spindle nut lined up properly in the washer and the spindle. I'm not sure why this is the case but i figured someone might know? I was wondering if I would wind up breaking something running it without that clip, and if there is something i can do to solve my issues???

Did you tear everything apart down to the axlehouseing and replace the spindle shafts to or are you trying to use the original shafts that came with the flange mount hubs because the original shafts are shorter than the ones for the warn hubs
I had to push mine out from behind to get the snap ring on the shaft. Hammer handle, pry bar, whatever, it'll give you that last 1/8th of an inch. You need to put the snap ring on.
How much trouble is it to make that conversion? I have an 88 f-150 5.0 4x4 with the top hat hubs. The drivers side hub started making a clicking sound from time to time while driving in 2wd. Im catching hell finding a replacement of course so im curious about converting so it will be easier to work on in the future. Thanx in advance by the way, lol
