Default Built low to the ground

Ok...I just finished changing the serpentine belt and tensioner to quiet a squeaky engine and everything worked out fine, all purring now.

Just one problem...I'm too short to reach down into the engine compartment. I couldn't reach down far enough to thread the belt onto the crank pulley and getting a good angle on the tensioner bolt was tough, too. I finally grabbed my chainsaw case out of the garage to stand on, but it kept kicking out from under me.

So, does anyone have an elegant solution for reaching into the nether regions of our engine bays? I'm 5'9" so won't be playing in the NBA anytime soon. but not freakishly small, either.

I don't know how elegant a foot stool is, but...
I use a small step ladder, sometimes a milk crate, whatever gets the job done.

That's why I used the chainsaw case....

Oh, and I meant elegant in the engineering solution way, not in the fancy-pants, standing on my butler's back way

I'm 5'8" and I just crawled under the truck to put the belt on the crank pulley.

I'm 5'7" and just layed over the grille and such to get the belt on. No problems what so ever. Getting the the 6th spark plug off my 300 was tough though, had to stand on the tire and reach way in there
