Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone knows how to manually drop the tailgate on a 90 150. the latch broke and i need to get it down. Thanks.

 

It depends on where it broke. Remove the inside access panel of the tailgate. You will see the back of the handle and mechanisms.


See if the rods are still connected and check the handle. My handle broke and wouldn't push the levers to move the rods. If this part is ok then you need to check the latches at the sides.


If the rod came off here you will have to pull it with something.

I'm guessing it's the handle that broke. I just use a screwdriver to pry the lever to open it. One side still works with the handle and the other side I pry it. Until you fix the problem you will need to leave the tailgate panel off if you want to open the tailgate. That's why mine is still open, and that's why I was able to get you pictures.
