Broken Fuel Tank Selector Valve 1988
In the process of replacing my flexplate on my 88 F-150, while removing the crossmember, I broke one of the outputs on the tank selector valve.
I bought some plastic weld stuff, and fixed the output as best I could. I'm kinda worried that my "weld" job might eventually break or leak, and that maybe I should just take the selector valve out completely, as I don't ever use the rear tank.
I'm just wondering if I cap off the rear tank lines, join the front tank lines to their appropriate lines to the engine, if everything would function normally.
The first picture is where I broke the output off at, and the second picture is my idea to remove the valve completely.

So yeah, I bought this truck for $700. It's not getting a $150 part when I could possibly fix it with just fuel lines. I don't plan on EVER using the rear fuel tank. This truck is for having 4x4 when it's snowy out, or just for fun otherwise. If you saw a picture of it, you would understand.
Thanks FasterThanTrouble, I think the section talking about replacing the single function reservoir with steel tubing from Dorman will work perfectly for what I am trying to do.

Update : Bridged the lines from the front tank to the lines going to the engine, and success!
I used these to bridge the lines and keep the "quick disconnect" fittings in place. http://dormanproducts.com/p-12461-800-159.aspx
Finally got everything back together after a 2nd time of replacing the flexplate, since O'Reilly sold me the wrong flexplate the first time around and it introduced an insane vibration in the engine. Truck running great, hell of a deal for 700 bucks!
