yes you can drive it, aside from the legality thing, nothing will happen. cats dont really serve any purpose that effects engine performance in our trucks. the only thing that would happen is if you owned a 95 or 96 with OBDII, the check engine light would come on for a faulty cat.

My truck has no cat no muffler and only has a 33 inch thrush glasspack and I think it sounds great...nebraska isn't a catalyst state so there's no worries here about not having a cat...but u should check with state laws to see if removal is legal...hint...if u haveto get a yearly smog inspection then its illegal to remove it

its illegal to remove a cat on a vehicle that you intend to drive on the street. the law is the same everywhere, the only difference in emissions testing and no testing, if you get testing every year or 2, whatever it is. people usually are less likely to take them off because they have to put them back on. the only way to get caught in non testing states is for a cop to pull you over and actually look.

Pennsylvania isn't 100% emissions yet. The county i live in doesn't have them, but my dad who lives 30 minutes from me does.

a few people sum'd it up - but if it's temporary just do it and be cognizant when you are really throttling it up that it may be louder and you'll draw more attention to yourself…

does a cop check underneath the car when he pulls you over - probably not, but if it smells like raw exhaust (did I just type that? raw exhaust) then he may question you.

And just because you don't have emissions testing/standards in your specific county doesnt mean you can remove the cats - it's still illegal remove any exhaust equipment.
