Default Brake line question

I need the brake line that goes from the master cylinder down to the front brakes. I know I can make my own line but where do I find the coupling/nut that screws on the master cylinder? Also if I can make my own like do I need the loop de loop bend in it like the stock line has? Thanks

You should try and copy the loops/shape of the old line as best as possible. When you buy the new line it should have the nut on it already.

Most auto parts stores sell the brake lines in common lengths with same fittings on each end. If the master cylinder is different from the standard, AutoZone sells adapter fittings for the master cylinder. You just need to know the length you need.

I wouldn't worry about bending the brake line in a loop unless you have a brake line bender.. The size line you'll need it 3/16 and it will come standard with 7/16 fitting on thee ends.. On the master cylinder the front brake line has the 1/2 fitting so you'll have to get an adaptor to fit but the back one is 7/16 and should screw right in.

I've always used a pop can or something similar and wound the line around that to get the spiral.

^ +1. I made this exact line last summer, wrapped the line around a spray can of penetrating oil, worked great. The loops are for movement between the body/chassis and need to be there. I used bulk line, reused the large fitting at the master cylinder (nothing wrong with it) and used a new fitting down below. If you have a flaring tool it's cheaper to buy bulk line and fittings.

With a little pratice using a flaring tool, you can make any brake line you need and have the satisfaction that you did it yourself. Do a search to find vendors that sell pre bent lines if that is the route you wish to go. Either way, good luck with your project !

Brake lines are double flared, you need a double flare tool.
