Bench Seat Repairs
The bench seat in my 96 F150 standard cab felt like you were sitting on the floor boards and had to sit with some weird contorted posture. Come to find out that the metal bracing in the back and the springs on the bottom were all busted up. Previous owner must have been a big boy. In his defense it did have about 190K on it. After calling every junkyard in a 100 mile radius with no luck finding a replacement in better shape then mine, I bit the bullet and took it into a local upholstery shop. The welded up the broken bracing and repaired the busted springs as well as recovered it. It looks like new in my opinion. I think the local shop did a great job and it was money well spent, I know my butt appreciates it. Just goes to show that the best work can be done by local small businesses.

It's a Canadian thing eh!
Yeah, I want my red power lumbar bench seat to match my gray interior and use the armrest in the middle. Instead I just have a seat cover on it. Would like to know what it ran you for pricing.

It's common for those metal straps on the back-rest to break - the fist two were broken on the bench seat that came with my '91. If I wanted to keep the bench seat I think I would have tried get a donor from a later vehicle and salvage the mounting feet from the original seat to use with the later bench. I'm not sure how involved this might be but I'm guessing not too bad.
