Unhappy Belt slippage?

here is my issue my belt keeps slipping off (going toward the cabin).

the only time it seems to do it is when i reve the engine while just sitting there. the belt snapped today when i was doing a koeo test which entitles wot i get done got a system pass code and was happy...untill i heard a rattle/clunking sound so i shut my engine off take a look and my belt has slipped back about 2 rows i have had problems in the past with my belt drive this would be my third 4 month old belt trashed. i can link the last one to a same scenario with wot due to my cousin got a new Chevy and well you get the picture...

i just want to know what is causing that. granted i don't beat my truck up much so i rarely hit full throttle, i just want to fix the issue before it gets worse.

Make sure the tension is right. Might need a new tensioner or just need to tighten it more by means of the alternator.

Have you tried a new tensioner?

Don't move the alternator, that's stupid.

Default Derelict Belt

Make sure all the pully's align properly. I had an issue with a cracked tensioner mount once on a 5.0. Also on a 4.6 I had a cracked timing chain cover(the tensioner mounts to this) cause the issue. Use a highly visible string routed along either the inside or outside grove on the pulleys. Be sure none of the pulleys are bent. My '94 Mustang has a mildly bent crank pulley, engine came from a wrecked car. I didn't notice it until I set the timing. At first look while setting the timing I was beginning to think there were one too many homebrews consumed!

My truck loved throwing belts. Took me a few belts to find the problem.

its actually my 3rd tentionor the origonal one finaly went after 17 years then the other dorman pos went after 5 months i bought a motorcraft one and its fine. the alt, tenntinor brakets look fine no cracks or strange bends. its just strange I'm not to sure what can cause it and have no idea how to adjust the tenntion. moving the alternator won't do anything but cause more issues it seems

Obviously check all your bearings on the accessories. It was my power steering pump, was worn and the extra strain would throw the belt off.

the alternator steering water pump pulleys are solid and do not move other then around like they should. its only happens when i put the peddle to the floor so i'm thinking i might be over reving it? i don't think there would be a rev limiter on my 300 six when i did the koeo test my tach did hit 6k

My beater liked throwing alternator belts, we decided the bearings in it were shot, but there wasn't an extreme amount of movement, so check them real close...
