Default Bad U Joints?

I have a 1995 5.0. On acceleration and right before my truck comes to a stop I feel a couple clunks underneath the truck. I think maybe bad u joints but not positive. What's everybody else's thoughts

Yeah thats classic symptoms for bad joints. Easy and cheap to replace and find out. Do it quick, its really bad for the rest of the driveline to run it like that.

And it really sucks when your drive shaft falls out!

could also be the radius arm bushings too. look for fresh metal on the frame mount bushing.

Checked for bare metal and didn't see any. I'm gonna try new u joints this weekend and see what happens. If that doesn't fix it I'm gonna investigate the bushings further. Thanks for the input

i wouldnt recomend store branded u joints at all. i like to go with precision they are a good known brand and still pretty good price wise too.

If your U-Joints are bad enough that they are clunking when you drive, then you'll know it before you replace them. When you have the driveshaft out check to make sure the joints arent overly loose, or bind when moving them. If they arent, no need to replace them.

Typically U-Joints make noise when going from Park to Drive, or Drive to Reverse. Id be more incline to look for ball joint wear, but while you are under there check the rest of the suspension, it only takes a few minutes.

Put your truck in neutral and wiggle the driveshaft back and forth. Shouldn't have a lot of play. If it does..replace them. They can make a squeak sound too when they are bad. Let us know what you find out..as this must be a common problem. Mine does it as well
