Default Anyone using a Snorkel

I have been interested in trying to build a snorkel. Since I can't find a prefab kit....I was curious if anyone has attempted this already.

Hey man I have been looking for a while as well. Everyone i have seen have been getto pvc and they are on beaters. For toyotas and land rovers even you can get ones that are moulded with the window and look really nice. Even the ones for the powerstrokes that go into the side air intake look really sweet. I refuse to getto up my truck so when I find one or a solution I will for sure post it. I would even pay up to 500$ for one including shipping at least.
I think one that would go up the corner but be shaped at the bottom like a v and wrap smooth around the front and side, be about 3" wide and 1.5" high would be enough flow for my 4.9 and still not block off too much vision. I dont know most likely dreaming.

holy crap you joined in 07 and have posted 16 times your a lurker! right on man.

Spray some PVC black and you can run it along your hood and up your windshield frame

That's what I'd do. White PVC is tacky looking, but it can look good in black

I will be building a twin stack snorkel over the next few months out of ABS black drain pipe, heat resistant flex hose and rooftop dryer vents I'll post pix when she's finished!!

also gonna go with a Single 4" custom single stack exhaust in flat black...It's not diesel, but I need the exhaust further from the ground to match the snorkel!

That sounds cool. If thats your truck in your avatar I cant see you putting something ugly on it so Im sure the quality will be there. I would love to see pics when your done. Do you have the 4.9?. I wanted to stay away from round tubes and try to have one thats moulded and roundish. I guess contoured is the more appropriate word.
But If i decide to do a round one I think one 3" tube or even 2.5" would be the best for me. I wanted to use thin walled aluminum and weld the multiple cut pieces to form nice contours and have it fit the window perfect. Grind the welds down after and have a perfectly smooth pipe that I could polish or paint or whatever. Powdercoating it even would be cool. I think utilizing my stock box and having a plug for the hole in fender and a new top for a quick back to stock change would be cool. No mounts on the window just a pad for contact and concealed but sturdy supports in between the tube and fender would be awesome.

Yeah I joined when I had my first F150.....I had to sell it since it was more of a toy then a necessity. It was a 90 super cab long bed with an 8 inch suspension and a 3 inch body lift.....not really a good candidate for a daily driver.

Fab some up with mesh wire and cover it in fiberglass. It looks really good and custom. Way better than pvc.
