amp battery light

Default amp battery light

93 f150 302 4wd
the amp/battery light came on today two seconds later the check engine light coms on and the truck died so i pull over the truck fired right up but wasnt idling right and the amp light was still on i check the volts on the battery and alternator there reading 14 volts i check the cel codes and all it came up with was 998 hard fault i stumped help please

Maybe you have a problem in the ignition switch causing a feedback from the alternator. Since it shows 14v at the battery when running, it appears the altenator is working. As for the 998, that's a code when the engine off test wasn't finished before the running test was performed. Try again and do the KOEO first and then do the KOER.

ok i did some poking around and found the single wire that runs off the alternator harness and plugs in the side of the alternator is cliped in properly but very loose and the light goes on and off as i wiggle it so thats the light problem does any one know what this one wire plug does and would this cause the cel light and i did get a 122 code koeo tp sensor out of range but its not i replaced it last week and it reads 97v at idle and 4.45 at wot

It should read about .95 at idle position and about 4.3 wide open throttle. Check again when everything is connected properly.

my manule says its within range idle being between .5 and 1 volt and wot between 4 and 5 volt is it really that sensative

That's okay like that. Tha specs are broad. The ones I posted are about mid-range.
