Default abs light ..and wont shift

My daughters 96 f150 4x4 had the abs light come on on the way home from school. She parked it at home and tried to go to work and it wont shif into drive.Any ideas where to start? Thanks

Replace your speed sensor on top of the rear differential.

If the abs light is flashing does that change your diagnosis?

I just replaced the speed sensor...no help..anywhere else to look for? Thanks

Was there metl chips on the old one if so that's y did the speed omiter and promoter stop also it maybe the cable going to the abs senser also

That sensor is a magnet and as the gear goes by it reads the teeth if there is a mettle chip in there it's not going to work also it's been known that they make bad ones to if Nothen else go to ford and buy one

No metal chips on the old one...I ohmed out both and they read the same...dont know where else to look. Someone please explain the circut and why the abs light is flasing. Thanks

There has also been problems with the wiring from the plug at the VSS. Check them for continuity to make sure there are no breaks in the wires.

Thanks for the help...It was the 20 amp fuse...replaced that and its ok for now.......
