95 e4OD tranny problem 4WD
Just checking to see if there is things to find out what is going on with the transmission in my 1995 f-150 4wd.It has a 351w with an e4od tranny.I bought this truck awhile ago and knew it has a tranny issue.I am getting ready to put it on the road now,so I need to get it fixed. When I pull it into gear (D) it will hardly haul it self.You have to really force it.I put it in 4 low to move it around so it's not so hard on it.When shifted to 1st it wont move unless you un-plug the wire harness on side of tranny,but it still feels like it's in 2nd or drive.When put into reverse it goes in harshly(kicks the tires) Moves fine though.Fluid looks OK and the level is where it's supposed to be.I put a small set of tires on it last year and took it for a short road test and it did seem to have 2nd,drive and OD.Once it gets rolling it seems to be better.Didn't really want to force it though.I have a set of 35/12.5/15 on it now and a 3" body lift and just put in a 6" suspension lift.I do have a spare tranny here to try but I don't want to pull it if it's an electrical problem.These things are super heavy as you all know.Just looking for some ideas before I go to change it and it still have a problem...Thanks guys for the help in advance.
That tranny will post codes for you. It could also be something else - these trannies depend on good info from a lot of other sensors before they operate correctly. This link will explain how to check for codes:

I have alot of codes here to look at...lol...here they are:6376216226296266246376216226296266241332452624 637332452624647. I am assuming some of these are being repeated but this is what it gave me.I checked it 4 times with the same results.My eyes are crossed now.Some of these codes will be generated from the o2 sensors being un hooked by the previous owner.They put dual exhaust on it,any help is much appreciated.I was talking to a tranny guy today and he thinks that the tranny needs to be changed due to what I am telling him.He thinks that the clutches might be melted together as it does not want to move in 1st gear.Let me know...thanks
Lots of codes and you have them listed screwy, I'll do my best.
637= TOT (transmission operating temperature) sensor circuit above maximum voltage
621= shift solenoid 1 circuit failure
622= shift solenoid 2 circuit failure
629= converter clutch control circuit failure
626= coast clutch solenoid circuit failure
624= EPC solenoid or driver circuit failure
332= insufficient EGR flow detected
452= insufficient input from vehicle speed sensor
647=incorrect gear ratio obtained for 3rd gear
Most of these are transmission codes, and it sounds like all the trouble started with the vehicle speed sensor. The transmission wasn't getting speed readings, which wouldn't let it shift correctly. Whoever owned the truck felt it wasn't important enough to fix the speed sensor and continued driving the truck like that. The transmission was trashed by doing this. It's time for a new tranny.

Make sure the tranny isnt overfilled. After doing a full fluid changeout on mine, I overfilled it a half a quart and it would shift into first gear and it threw up all kinds of codes for the tranny. I thought it had to do with me doing the total fluid change but I took the tranny coolant line loose to drain the extra fluid out and she started shifting great and didnt throw up any more codes.
After a couple hours work tonight in the driveway I have the trans ready to be lowered out...in the morning I will finish it.I got another to put in so that will be a chore for tomorrow.I hate working on crushed rock...I have a garage but the new mustang project is on a rotissarie. To hard to put outside..LOL...
