I am looking to install either a 2" leveling kit or a 4" susp lift on my truck.
1994 F-150 XLT 2wd 4.9L I6, 5 sp manual transmission.
I was wondering if anyone had done this type of job before?
The guys at 4 wheel parts were real jerks so I don't know..
Cost?
Ease of Install?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends on how much you want to spend/do. I would do a 4" lift and put some 33's on. The lifts are not really that hard to do. From Rough Country I think that 4" is around $500? If you know how to turn a wrench and read directions you can install the lift.

 

thats the one i was looking at. I've heard that its impossible to realign with the leveling kit

do you know if you have to extend your brake lines?

 

You will never get a perfect aliment with a lift kit "Persay". It will be super close. For a 4" I think you can get away with not, but I would do it, and with a 6" you have to.

 

Well, if you are going as far as a leveling kit, finish the job and put on the lift kit...

 

why would you raise a 2WD?

 

thank you..exactly what i thought...i have a 94 xl that i want to get the the front as high as the rear,not the other way with shackles or whatever..ive heard there are springs to do this.. where can i find some?and do i need anything else like new shocks?

To get the alignment right you would have to change the bushing on the ball joints. They sell adjustable ones too so that you can change the angle. However having an alignment shop switch out the bushings is pretty expensive, at least the quotes I got. Ford wanted like 250 bucks to change the bushings and align mine, so my alignment is still off . And I lifted my 2 wheel drive. I just like the way it looks mostly, but being able to fit larger tires with better traction will help in keeping you from getting stuck in places you might not want to. It's all personal preference.

I have a bunch of mechanic friends that do this type of crap.
How much lift do you have on yours?
Tire size?

 

i put the lift and 33s on my truck and never got it aligned either i figured if i did get it aligned, then i would just take it up in the mountains and mess it up anyways.... heck with it lol
