Default 94 axle decoder

Axle Codes (LS=Limited Slip / Traction Lok):

F-150:

19 – 3.55 Non-LS
18 – 3.08 Non-LS
H9 – 3.55 LS
B6 – 3.73 LS
OK LOOK IN YOUR DOOR JAM AND SEE WHAT AXLE CODE YOU HAVE AND LET ME KNOW? I WOULD THINK THIS WOULD WORK FOR ALL YEARS BUT I MAY BE WRONG.

Default 17 axle code

My dads truck says 17 in the door for the axle, you are saying if it has a number for the first digit then it is a non-limited slip axle, but my dad ordered it spicific back in 1995 with a limited slip axle and I have seen the limited slip in action on the truck. Could 17 be a special number for a limited slip axle with 3:31 gears? Also If i was to throw that rear end into a 4X4 truck, does the front axle gear ratio have to match the back one?

Google is such a wonderful tool.... I just typed in Ford Truck Axle Code 17 and this is the first or second result it shows: http://www.ford-trucks.com/article/i...de_Chart_.html

But if you don't want to go to that site:

Code: 17 Ratio: 3.31:1 Type: Regular(Non-Limited Slip or Open Differential, whichever you prefer to call it)

It also lists that code 17 was used in the 70's for 3.25:1 open differential

I dunno what year that works until, but it should be mid to late 60's-at least 97 any letter in the code is LS.

I don't think 3.25's are used in anything anymore, but I could be wrong. Seems like a tractor gear to me. So the codes won't work universally.

H5 is 4.10 LS. I believe 15 is 4.10 open.
