Default 88 Ext cab Lariat Split window conversion?

Hey all new to the forum, and ford trucks. Was curious if there was a way to convert the side ext cab split window to a solid one piece. Not a big fan of the split look...if this has been covered somewhere, just point me in the right direction, like I said I'm new in these parts.
Thanks

pretty sure the cab is build that way, nothing you can do to change it short of cutting out the piece of metal in the middle and doing a bunch of custom fab work.

Thats kinda what I figured, oh well. Maybe a decent "extra credit " project at school...finding the right size glass without having it custom made will probably be the biggest problem

People used to do those type of conversions, but I think it was on cars that also had one piece glass available. Probably would have to get custom glass, but I don't think the door conversion would be too bad.

Is it actually 2 seperate peices of glass? I guess I always figured it was the same glass as the 92-97 with a piece of metal in front of it

If you really wanted to do it you could cut out the 92-97 surround and weld it in your cab. Then use the 92-97 glass.

i did a quick google search

read the last post

http://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/65...it-window.html

looks like no cutting or welding is required.

also i looked at lmc
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/fd/full.aspx?Page=12

you may be able just to swap them out. i went out and measured mine as i have a super cab with the solid rear side windows
it is 19 3/4 tall by 14 inches wide with a 1 inch thick rubber around it.

the only way that you are going to know for sure is to take it apart. so do what i do and go find one in a junkyard and take that one apart and see if it works and how its done. that way you dont mess yours up. either way do a write up and dont forget the pics.

hell yeah, good info, thanks everybody. I'll definitely tear into it sometime this week when I'm bored. Only got a few days extra credit time at school, so i think I'll concentrate on some dent and rust removal and tackle the window at home....
