Default 87 fuel problem

Hey guys, my 87 f-150 with a 302 will randomly quit on me when driving it. When it quits, I cannot hear either fuel pump prime. After waiting awhile I will turn the key on again and hear them prime and it will fire right up. It has a remanufactured distributor in it, a new fuel pump relay and PCM relay. and a new selector switch. Any ideas, I need the truck but its not dependable.

Check codes. '87 doesn't have a check engine light so you will need a test bulb or analog voltmeter.

May be the grounds for the fuel pump, connectors, regulator. Like was said, check your codes. You can use a reader if it's for OBD1, there isn't a connector under the dash like with OBDII, but there is a self diagnostic connector in the engine bay, driver's side, next to firewall. Check the sticky for pulling codes.

Just follow the wires from the tank, yes they are on the frame. Sand the frame, eyelet, and hit the bolt with a wire brush. Also wouldn't hurt to clean the connectors with some QD Electronic Clean.
