Default 4.9L Starting Problems

1987 f-150 4.9L manuel. I turned the key, pump primed, and it will start for like 2 seconds then shut off, any ideas?

you have a high pressure pump on the frame, and a low pressure pump in the tank... one of the pumps may be bad

there are 2 pumps that run at the same time.... one could be priming, and the other my not be priming.... now that i think of it, it may be a clogged fuel filter also.... did you try starting it and giving it gas to try and keep the motor running?

yup i did try feathering it to keep it going, i just replaced my fuel filter like a month ago

the guy who pulled me home said it maybe the ignition module, any ideas?

Check for pressure at the fuel rail re: fuel pump/ check for spark re: TFI module. I've heard the module can be checked at Auto zone. Also Haynes ect, Manuals note the proper proceedure for testing. An error code scan could help KOEO (Key On Engine Off). There's always the coil, but my coils have always died while driving. The fact that it starts to run for a few seconds implies fuel is the missing piece. Try starter fluid directly into the air intake manifold! Keep your face out of the way in case it burps back.
